Independent Jewellery valuers: an impartial & confidential valuation service

In 2012, we looked to increase the areas of expertise in which we were able to value and appraise - it was agreed that jewellery in its various classifications - fine, antique, vintage and costume - was to be the principal new addition to our range. To be able to compete successfully with other independent jewellery valuers within the south-east of England, we located an outstanding specialist who was comfortable working to Culvertons’ standards - offering consideration, discretion and impartiality to our clients at all times.

Sorrel – a brief resumé

Sorrel has amassed a wealth of knowledge of the jewellery trade and has become a talented jewellery designer in her own right - an achievement in any career, but remarkable considering her age.

Born into the jewellery trade, when young Sorrel could be often seen roller–skating between her parents’ shops in Hatton Garden, the legendary centre of the British diamond trade. It was here that her interest in fine gemstones was born.

Given that her formative years were spent in this way, it was not surprising that by 1994, at the age of 15, Sorrel had already set up a small business sourcing selected antique pieces of jewellery for the trade and private clients. This enterprise financed her later studies in Fashion, Promotion and Illustration at Surrey University where she obtained a BA (Hons) and a strong desire to start creating her own designs.

A year-long buying trip abroad in 2006/07 gave Sorrel an insight into global fashion trends, and inspiration to create and blend innovative contemporary designs with craftsmanship from past generations. On her return, creativity and eye for detail quickly led to her being offered concessions at leading high street retailers and private commissions from a number of London dealers and private clients.

Recently Sorrel has attended a design and goldsmithing course at London Metropolitan University. At present she is sourcing fine period and vintage items for her newly opened retail establishment in the centre of London.

Due to the economic climate the Jewellery market is somewhat volatile. The value and popularity of some pieces have risen but others are in sharp decline. Sorrel’s experience and full time involvement within the London trade leaves her well placed to keep up with these fluctuations, allowing her to appraise with accuracy and offer advice to our customers.
